Most recent scientific researches have found out that the part of the brain which is active when we learn a language – the ACC (Anterior Cingulate Cortex)  – c.f. Bilingualism Tunes the Anterior Cingulate Cortex for Conflict Monitoring, Jubin Abutalebi, Pasquale Anthony Della Rosa, David W. Green, Mireia Hernandez, Paola Scifo, Roland Keim, Stefano F. Cappa, Albert Costa, Cerebral Cortex, Volume 22, Issue 9, September 2012, Pages 2076–2086, https://doi.org/10.1093/cercor/bhr287, Published: 29 October 2011, https://academic.oup.com/cercor/article/22/9/2076/418142# – is the same part of the brain which is also in charge of  & is active when we feel & experience empathy and which controls our emotions, impulse and attention. These findings have proven that the grey matter in individuals who are bilinguals/multilingual is precisely more developed and more important in this part of the brain. It is thus a reality that learning multiple languages makes us better humans, more empathetic with people around us, more compassionate, more understanding, more focused on solving conflict & cooperate with one another.

Simon Sinek says: “In life, like in business, the one who wins is the one who understands humans/people best.”

We also know that, in a conflict occurring context, these are the individuals able to cooperate and care for each other, who manage to solve and settle the conflict. Also there are those who are better at solving problems.

Our postulate, within our research project, is that “our world can reach a state of sustainable peace if we all decide to increase our proficiency in multiple languages & embrace multilingualism & that multilingualism can help us stop violence, racism & radicalization worldwide one day”.

This is the subject we are currently researching on, wishing to start a Phd for in the years to come & spend the rest of our life working on. This is also the reason why we started a multilingual marathon earlier this year 2019 – in the course of which we dedicate a significant part of our time to learning daily 17 languages (we had learned, are educated in and had started learning some of them earlier in our life, we started to learn some others from scratches as self-directed learners) –, in order to lead an experiment on ourselves and see how multilingualism positively impacts our life & the life of other people around me.

We know that learning a language does not change what we think, but it does change how we think, how we feel & how we behave.

Learning a language changes us, in millions of different ways.

What if we could achieve worldwide peace by learning multiple languages? All of us. Altogether. What if we had it inside ourselves. The choice. To make our world function better. To settle conflicts. To open our eyes. To open our ears. To open our minds & to learn & implement peace altogether. All at once. To sit down & learn. To discover new places. Meet new people. Establish, create & maintain peace. Within & among us & within the entire world.

And help humanity in all challenges it faces today.

What do you think?

Can we make it?

We believe we can.

We believe we all can make Peace happen.

Only if we decide it.

And make the choice to.

Choose multilingualism.

Now.

It is not enough to have started to carry out researches with the project to start a Phd.

We also need your help – we need you to start learning many languages as well.

If empathy is increased by learning languages, then, we can only be better humans out of learning them.

So. What are we waiting for?

Peace is not out of reach. It only lies within all of us. Within our choices. Our choices of what we spend our time doing. Peace only awaits to be learned, opened & established for good.

Peace is a work of everyday learning.

Make Peace happen – start learning new languages as well!

At Tra.No – Be a Mouvement, we work everyday with the English, French & Russian languages as certified & sworn Translator with the Courts of First Instance in Belgium & with the Norwegian, Dutch & Spanish languages as a Freelance Translator & Writer. We also work with, study & learn German, Polish, Arabic & Hebrew and most recently we started to learn Chinese (Mandarin), Turkish, Hindi, Italian, Kirundi (Rundi from Africa), Lakota (Lakhota – Sioux – from Siouan languages, USA) & sign language (LSF – French) as a self-directed learner.

All & each of these languages, do we keep on learning & work on & with every day equally.

We hope to have the opportunity to learn many more languages in the future. And we hope you, as well, are learning and will & start to learn many languages.

Learning is a conscious choice.

Make the choice today!

Make Peace happen today.

Where ever you are.

– At Tra.No, as one of our main activities, we research on multilingualism –

We do strongly believe in multilingual Literacy, Education & Self-Learning as the best way for the world to face & resolve the challenges it faces nowadays, to reach a sustainable state of lasting Peace and to make this World a better place for everyone everywhere worldwide.

This is for that purpose that everyday we commit to learning daily & fully 17 languages (French, Russian, English, Norwegian (Bokmål & Nynorsk), Spanish, Dutch, German, Polish, Italian, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish, Lakota, Kirundi & (French) Sign language and wish to learn many more in the future.

We do consider that all languages are equal & deserve the same status, time, love, interest, preservation, (legal) protection, curiosity, dedication, dedicated efforts & hard work, fascination, passion, importance, value & respect. Because all languages are equal, they must be equally protected, respected & valued. Their protection & survival must be guaranteed by all of us. This must be a concern for all of us to know that every day, many languages disappear from the surface of the earth. A language is a cultural, historical & human heritage, the loss of which is at a great cost for the entire humanity – that is for all of us. We should all be putting as many efforts as we can to save languages from disappearance & extinction worldwide.

We invite you to learn as many languages possible as well. When you do, you participate in their survival, preservation, development & growth, as well as in the development, health and growth of humanity.

Without past, there is no future.

Every language of this world carries a tremendous historical heritage that must be protected from disappearing. Otherwhise, this is the future of humanity, our future, which is at stake for the millennia to come.

Every time a language disappears, this is a human, historical & cultural heritage which irreversibly disappears, at a great cost for the whole humanity.

By learning a language, we carry on & transmit our humanity heritage & our past to the next generations, in order for us & them to build a better future.

Learn & teach as many languages as possible – multilingualism makes our brain healthier and more fit, it trains it in the most optimal and effective way, it also makes a healthier society by developping our capacity of empathy within ourselves & within our world, it protects our human heritage from disappearing & makes us better humans in a better world for all.

A world where we consciously take care of our human, historical & cultural heritage & of our humanity.

– . –

A world where all languages & cultures stand on a same level of equality.

Do not wait.

Start to learn new languages today.

The Languages Marathon we are personally running today – in preparation of a Research project within a Phd – for which we are still looking for a university to host our project – has as purpose to:

Function as a pilot research project, personally experienced, apply the concept of multilingalism on our own life & assess how does it impact positively our life & the life of others around us. By doing so, we wish to open the possibility & realization of further researches on the subject “Can Multilingual Literacy, Education & Self-Learning improve & develop empathy within the Human subject in a longterm, self-sustained and lasting perspective & which application can we make of multilingualism in our society in order to improve it & improve the quality of our lives? How can we apply the concept of multilingual education to help vulnerable and non-vulnerable individuals* rehabilitate and optimize their life & potential (*such as psychically-challenged, criminals before – as means of prevention – during and after criminal sentences, drug-addicted individuals, traumatized individuals and any other challenged or not challenged individuals). Also how can we apply multilingual education to prevent, manage & stop violence & violent behaviour, stop racism, reach & establish a state of lasting sustainable Peace in today’s world.”

– The title of our Research is the following –

“Multilingual (Self-)education* & Multilingualism* as means to develop cognitive empathy & self-control & prevent violent behaviour

&

Their* possible application:

– in order to rehabilitate vulnerable groups within the human society (criminal, psychically challenged, psychologically traumatized, drug-addicted & radicalized individuals)

& help the human community as a whole

– in order to stop racism & achieve sustainable Peace worldwide”

A complete description of our project is:

“Can Multilingual Literacy, Education & Self-directed Learning improve & develop empathy within the Human in a longterm, self-sustained & lasting perspective? Which application can we make of multilingualism in our society to help it/us tackle the challenges it/we faces today worldwide? How can we apply the concept of multilingual education & self-directed learning to help vulnerable and non-vulnerable individuals* rehabilitate and optimize their life & potential (*such as psychically-challenged, criminals before – as means of prevention – during and after criminal sentences, drug-addicted individuals, traumatized individuals and any other challenged or not challenged individuals). Also how can we apply multilingual education to prevent, manage & stop violence & violent behaviour, improve self-control, stop racism & help the whole human community reach & establish a state of lasting sustainable Peace in today’s world.”

Everybody is welcome to join us on this research project

&

Everyone is welcome & encouraged to practice and implement multilingualism in everyday life.
